Network Load Balancing
We anticipate the possibility of deploying Lightstreamer in a web server farm (initially for redundancy purposes but presumable later also for capacity reasons). If Lightstreamer is to be deployed behind a NLB, are there any specific considerations?
For example:
- Which load balancing method can be used? For example could we use Round Robin or would Server Affinity be required?
- Are there any performance or resource implications we need to consider when choosing one load balancing method over another.
- Unless I missed it in the documentation there does not seems to be any built in functionality to keep multiple Lightstreamer Web Server?s in sync. Is it true to say that responsibility fall to the Data\Metadata adapters?
Could you guide me to more detailed documentation on how to deploy Lightstreamer in a clustered/farmed environment?
Thanks

Hi riaanj,
Have you already seen the "Clustering.pdf" document, available within the "DOCS-SDKs" of any Lightstreamer distribution?

Hey Alex,
We downloaded MODERATO to do our proof-of-concept and could not find the document in the DOCS-SDKs. Since MODERATO does not include clustering I requested a demo version and found the document in there, so I will check it out!
Thanks for the reply

Did you download the "Moderato" version or the "Allegro/Presto/Vivace" version from http://www.lightstreamer.com/download.htm ?
In the latter case, you should find clustering.pdf under DOCS-SDKs.
In the former case, if you confirm that a new download can be a problem, we'll send you the file.

We have the Moderato version
and before we decide to purchase the other versions we would like to understand the cluster capabilities.
So if you can send me the pdf , it will be much appreciated.
Thanks

Hi Assaf,
Please go to http://www.lightstreamer.com/downloadretail.htm then click on "Windows Distribution (zip)". A zip file will be downloaded. You can find the Clustering.pdf document under the "\Lightstreamer\DOCS-SDKs" within the zip.
Cheers
