Lightstreamer License Types
Below is a detailed explanation of all the available license types for the Lightstreamer products.
Please Contact info@lightstreamer.com or call +1 (650) 353 33 30 to ask any question.
DEMO License
Purpose: For evaluation, development, and test. Not for production.
Editions: For the Lightstreamer Server product, you can configure the Server to run as Allegro, Presto, or Vivace edition mode. The Mobile Push Notifications module is enabled.
Versions: Any version of the Lightstreamer components is enabled by a DEMO license.
Limitations: Maximum 20 concurrent users. Maximum 20 devices for the Mobile Push Notifications module.
How to get it: This is the default license type.
How to install it: Nothing needs to be done; the Server is preconfigured to run in Demo mode.
EVALUATION License
Purpose: Gives you the possibility to try Lightstreamer for free for 60 days without limitations on the number of users.
Editions: For the Lightstreamer Server product, you can configure the Server to run in Allegro, Presto, or Vivace edition mode. The Mobile Push Notifications module is enabled.
Versions: Any version of the Lightstreamer components is enabled by an EVAL license.
Limitations: Time limited (usually 60 days).
How to get it: You can request an Eval license to info@lightstreamer.com.
How to install it: You will receive a ClientId string to be put in the lightstreamer_version_conf.xml file of Lightstreamer Server (set <type> to LICENSE_SERVER and <client_id> of <license_server> to the provided string). To check the license validity, Lightstreamer Server will need to periodically connect to our servers through the Internet.
PRODUCTION License
Purpose: Used in production environments.
Editions: For the Lightstreamer Server product, the edition is contained in the license file and depends on the purchase agreement.
Versions: The license file contains the version numbers (only major and minor, not subminor) of Lightstreamer Server and Lightstreamer Web (formerly JavaScript) Client SDK up to which the software is enabled to run. E.g.: the license file is issued for Lightstreamer Server 5.0 and Lightstreamer JavaScript Client 6.1. Such file will work with Server 4.0 and JavaScript Client 6.1.1, but not with Server 5.1 or with JavaScript Client 6.2. In the latter case you will need to request a new license.
Limitations: Each license file is node locked to one MAC address (a license file is required for each instance of Lightstreamer Server).
How to get it: It is delivered after a purchase order has been processed.
How to install it: You will receive a ClientId string and a license file. Copy the license file to the conf folder of your installation of Lightstreamer Server. Edit the lightstreamer_version_conf.xml file to set <type> to LICENSE_FILE and <client_id> of <license_file> to the provided string.
DEVELOPMENT & TEST License
Purpose: Used in development and/or test environments (including pre-production) without the limitation on number of users of the Demo license.
Editions: For the Lightstreamer Server product, the Edition is contained in the license file and is the same as the corresponding Production license.
Versions: The license file contains the version numbers (only major and minor, not subminor) of Lightstreamer Server and Lightstreamer Web (formerly JavaScript) Client up to which the software is enabled to run.
Limitations: Each license file is node-locked to one MAC address. Each execution of the Lightstreamer Server process is limited to 3.5 hours. After that time, the Server shuts down and needs to be restarted. Three times per hour, a message is broadcast to all connected clients to notify them that a Development/Test License is in use.
How to get it: Any number of Dev/Test licenses (within reason) can be requested free of charge after a Production license has been purchased.
How to install it: You will receive a ClientId string and a license file. Copy the license file to the conf folder of your installation of Lightstreamer Server. Edit the lightstreamer_version_conf.xml file to set <type> to LICENSE_FILE and <client_id> of <license_file> to the provided string.
