Download & Install the Software

1) Download the current distribution of Lightstreamer Moderato:

Windows Distribution (zip) [10.8 MB]
UNIX/Linux Distribution (tar.gz) [9.7 MB]

By downloading the distributions you agree to the terms of this Software License Agreement.

2) Extract the content of the downloaded archive to your hard drive (need to know how to extract the archive?).

3) To start Lightstreamer Server, you need a Free License, which you can get right now (see the section below). Otherwise Lightstreamer Server will run in "unregistered mode" (that is, the Server will shut down after one hour from startup and three times per hour a message will be broadcast to connected clients mentioning that the Server has not been registered).

4) Follow the GETTING_STARTED.TXT file instructions (located in the root folder of your installation) to complete the configuration.
 
  
Get a Free License
Get Your Free License for Lightstreamer Moderato Now

The official contractual details that regulate a Free License are available in the Software License Agreement. Below you can find for your convenience a recap of the main requirements:

  1. A Free License can be used to add Lightstreamer Moderato’s functionalities to any legal service or product, whether free or commercial.
     
  2. Only one instance of Lightstreamer Server installed on only one machine (node) can be executed for each Web application. This means that clustering and fail-over capabilities are explicitly prohibited.
     
  3. The “Lightstreamer Live Data Delivery” logo (available from the links to the right) and a link to “www.lightstreamer.com” must be prominently displayed on the Web application and in all the materials related to the service or product.
     
  4. For all parts of the service or product that use Lightstreamer, the integrator must clearly and prominently indicate that all Copyrights related to it are the sole and exclusive property of Weswit S.r.l.

A License File contains the MAC address of one of the network cards of the machine on which Lightstreamer Server is installed. By clicking on the link above you will be asked to fill in the MAC address. After that you will receive an email containing your Free License file together with you personal ClientID , needed to run Lightstreamer Server.
